About HowToBasic
HowToBasic is an Australian comedy channel that looks like a how-to channel and is nothing of the sort. Its videos are chaotic, destructive gags, very often involving eggs.
Video one
The first video, "How To Pick Up a Umbrella" from December 2011, set the template: a simple-sounding tutorial that turns absurd.
The breakthrough
The channel took off in 2013 as viewers shared its baffling "tutorials". The creator never speaks or shows his face, which only added to the mystery.
Today
HowToBasic is one of Australia's biggest channels. Its creator remains anonymous, and the channel still invites viewers to "post a video suggestion".
