About James Charles
James Charles is a makeup artist who became one of the most-subscribed beauty creators on YouTube.

His oldest public video is a "BLUE/BROWN SERPENT Makeup Tutorial" from March 2016, posted while he worked as a local makeup artist in his hometown in New York.
The breakthrough
Later in 2016 a photo of his makeup went viral, and CoverGirl named him its first male brand ambassador. His dramatic looks and tutorials grew his channel quickly, and in 2020 he hosted the YouTube Originals competition series Instant Influencer.
Today
He has released makeup products, including a palette with Morphe. His career has also included several widely publicised online controversies.
