About Smosh
Smosh is one of YouTube's original comedy channels. Founded by best friends Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla, it has been making people laugh since the platform's earliest days.
Video one
The oldest video still on the channel, "Power Rangers Theme" from November 2005, comes from a time when YouTube was months old. Their early lip-sync videos to TV and game themes became some of the platform's first viral hits. Their Pokémon theme video was for a time the most-viewed video on YouTube.
The breakthrough
Smosh moved into sketch comedy with series like Food Battle and Every Blank Ever, and became one of the most-subscribed channels of the late 2000s and early 2010s. The brand grew into several channels, including Smosh Games and Smosh Pit.
Today
Padilla left in 2017, and after the company changed hands, Hecox and Padilla bought Smosh back together in 2023. Today Smosh is an independent comedy company known for improv and sketch shows with a large cast.
