About Markiplier
Mark Fischbach, known as Markiplier, built one of YouTube's most loyal audiences with Let's Plays of indie horror games, then turned that following into a career in filmmaking and acting.
Video one
Markiplier started in 2012, and the oldest public upload on his channel is an "Amnesia Reaction Compilation" from May of that year. Amnesia: The Dark Descent was the game that defined his early channel, with nervous commentary and big jump scares.
The breakthrough
His playthroughs of Five Nights at Freddy's in 2014 made him one of the most-watched gaming creators on the platform. He kept growing by mixing genres: comedy sketches, charity livestreams and the choose-your-own-adventure YouTube series A Heist with Markiplier.
Today
He has written and directed In Space with Markiplier, starred in the audio drama series The Edge of Sleep, and co-hosts popular podcasts. In 2026 he released Iron Lung, a horror film he directed, wrote, produced and starred in.
