Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, runs the most-subscribed channel on YouTube. His videos are built around huge, expensive challenges, from last-to-leave contests with life-changing prizes to recreations of TV shows, often with a charity angle.

He started uploading in early 2012 as a young teenager, under the name MrBeast6000. Those first videos were small Minecraft clips and gaming experiments, including the saw-trap video shown here, followed by years of videos estimating other YouTubers' earnings.
The breakthrough
Everything changed in January 2017 with "I Counted to 100,000!", a deliberately absurd endurance video that took about 40 hours to film. It went viral, and he poured the money it earned back into bigger and stranger ideas, bringing his childhood friends in as co-stars.
Today
MrBeast is now a business as much as a channel. Beast Industries includes Feastables chocolate, MrBeast Burger and Lunchly, plus several spin-off channels. He also co-founded the Team Trees and Team Seas fundraisers, which together have raised tens of millions of dollars.
