About PewDiePie
Felix Kjellberg, known as PewDiePie, defined what a YouTube star could be in the early 2010s. For years he ran the most-subscribed channel on the platform, and he remains one of its best-known names.
Video one
He created his channel in 2010 while studying in Sweden, and the oldest video still public is "Minecraft Multiplayer Fun" from October that year. His early uploads were Let's Plays of horror and action games, filmed with a webcam in the corner and lots of screaming.
The breakthrough
His horror playthroughs, especially Amnesia: The Dark Descent, made him one of the fastest-growing channels of 2012 and 2013. In August 2013 he became the most-subscribed creator on YouTube, a title he held for most of the next six years, including a famous subscriber race with T-Series.
Today
Over time he moved from Let's Plays to vlogs, comedy formats like Meme Review and commentary. In recent years he has uploaded less often, sharing his life in Japan, where he lives with his wife, fellow creator Marzia.
