We're trying something new...
Veritasium is a science channel created by Derek Muller. Its name combines "veritas", Latin for truth, with the "-ium" ending of an element: "an element of truth".
The first video, from August 2010, asks people a simple question: "How long does it take for the Earth to go around the Sun?" Muller's PhD research looked at how students cling to misconceptions, and that video put the idea into practice by testing what people really think.
Veritasium grew with clear, beautifully filmed explainers on physics, maths and engineering, often built around surprising experiments and common misconceptions. Many of its videos have tens of millions of views.
The channel now has a team of presenters and researchers, and Muller continues to host deep dives into science, history and technology.
